Making the Perfect Obento - Part 4

I will be dividing this into several steps:
  • Finding the Ideal Container
  • Bento Recipies (Including some goofy ideas)
  • Bento Accessories
  • The Group Bento - How to host your very own Japanese Food party using a multiple-person bento box. Serves up to 10 people comfortably (I did it in L.A. ^.^)

Hmm... I think we need a bigger box...

Larger boxes can be obtained a variety of ways. The fasted way is probably heading over to Mitsuwa.

Mitsuwa does not have a large variety of group obento boxes, but they are absolutely beautiful. They range anywhere from $19.00 (mainly for the black ones) to over $100 (usually red) and come in a range of sizes. There is actually more of an affordable group bento box variety here in Chicago than there is in Los Angeles. In LA, there are more of the expensive kind which are sometimes several hundred dollars.

Another option is here:

Those are jubako style boxes. Depending on the size, they are beautiful to use for serving.

Amazon.com has one also:

So, what I did in LA wasn't quite right, but an idea is rice on the bottom tier, a hot meaty dish (or several using dividers) in the middle, and homemade sushi on the top ^.^
