"The anime that started it all."
Genre: School life, Majou Shoujo (Magical Girl), Romance
Summary: Ichigo is a normal girl who suddenly finds herself the leader of a group of girls infused with animals so that they could defend the world from aliens.
Each character has a mark somewhere on her body designating she is a mew mew.
Characters: Momomiya Ichigo - Your typical airhead lead shoujo character. She transforms into a pink cat character. She is in love with Aoyama Masaya. Her mark is on her inner thigh.
Who will hate it: People who hate typical characters. People who hate magical girl anime. People who have been watching anime for a while.
Disclaimer: None. It is everyone-friendly.
Overall: As my second anime ever, it isn't a horrid choice. It was cute, but now that I look back, VERY predictable. Still, I enjoyed it and saw each episode a few times. (Back when I didn't know I liked other genres besides majou shoujo) I have fond memories of this show because it really is The One That Started It All. (Dare I say it...) If it weren't for Mew Mew Power on 4kids.tv, I never would have researched and found Tokyo Mew Mew and anime in general. Therefore, despite the fact that it has so many negatives, it still will hold a place in my heart because without it, I may never have become an anime fan.
(This is one of the blends I made for an old yahoo group I made called mermaidmewmewcafe. It was when I first learned how to make blends. ^.^)

Aizawa Minto - The blue bird magical girl. She is wealthy and spoiled, but deeply admires Zakuro. She is the only mew that can technically fly, though rarely the others may float around. Her mark is on her back.
Midorikawa Retasu (Lettuce) - The green porpoise. She has the ability to gain a mermaid's tail. She is in love with Shiragone Ryou. She is a sweet bookworm. Her mark is on her chest.
Fong Purin (Pudding) - The yellow monkey. She is the youngest of the group and quite energetic. She works very hard to take care of her younger siblings alone. She can often be found performing in the park. She also practices martial arts. She is the only Chinese member of the Mew Mews. Her mark is on her head.
Fujiwara Zakuro - The tsundere supermodel. She is a purple wolf. Her mark encircles her belly button.
Art: Quite bad. The characters look distorted quite often.
My review: It is quite horrid. As said, the characters often look distorted, the story was predictable, the characters were largely flat (with the exception of Minto and Purin), and the ending made no sense whatsoever. I think only a young girl or someone new to anime could enjoy this one. It really does bring the majou shoujo genre down a few notches. Nevertheless, the transformation sequences were neat and some of the episodes, like when Purin is sick and the episode of Ichigo as a cat were really cute ^.^
Targeted Audiences: Girls
Who will love it: People just being introduced to anime. Young girls. Fans of the majou shoujo genre who have seen everything else. Anyone who liked Magical Nyan Nyan Taruto (Yep, I saw it. ^.^)
